Of all the flowers on which CARON’s reputation is built, the rose is the one which most fascinated Ernest Daltroff. At the heart of most of his perfumes, and olfactory signature of CARON’s powders, Daltroff never ceased to be inspired by it, nor did he manage to exhaust its subtle nuances. 

Inspired by the notes left by Daltroff, Michel Morsetti created Or et Noir in 1949. To ‘dress’ this perfume, which exuded all the richness and captivating warmth of the oriental rose, Félicie Wanpouille would insist on only the most precious materials: the limited-edition bottle was made from Baccarat crystal and covered entirely in gold leaf. 
Only the initiated could detect the purity of the crystal underneath the gold leaf, which masked its extraordinary sparkle.
